In addition to my solid engineering background and my long experience as a translator, I guarantee the quality of my work thanks to a rule I have set for myself in my professional activity:
I do not translate documents whose subject matter I am not familiar with, and I never accept a job if I am not sure I can meet the agreed deadline. In short, I do not accept any translation assignment for which I cannot guarantee quality. I follow this rule for three reasons:
It violates the most basic ethical standards, including the Code of Ethics of the American Translators Association, which I have pledged to follow as an associate member of the association.
I would lose clients and risk being sued. In technical translation, errors can be catastrophic.
It goes against my own interests. I do not subcontract work and my time is limited. Why work in fields I do not know, when I can work faster and more efficiently by translating the types of documents I master?
If a translator or translation agency claims they can translate any type of text, be cautious.
