Style Guides

Unless clients request otherwise, these are the rules I follow when translating into Spanish:

Orthography: Ortografía de la Real Academia Española (2010 edition).

Exceptions:
- Percent sign. The 2010 RAE edition prescribes a thin space between the number and the percent sign (e.g., 75 %), deeming 75% incorrect. In line with prior orthographic norms, most style guides, and common technical-writing practice, I do not insert a space (I write 75%).
- Decimal separator. The RAE allows both comma and point, but recommends the comma to promote harmonisation in Spanish-speaking countries. I do not follow this recommendation and continue to use Spain’s traditional decimal separator: the comma.
