Rule of thumb (UK): Don’t translate standard titles unless there’s an official national adoption. In the UK that means a BS (British Standard), often a BS EN ISO when ISO is adopted via CEN. Keep titles exactly as published; add a brief gloss only if it helps.
Example (official UK adoption exists):
BS EN ISO 9001:2008 – Quality management systems — Requirements
(If you must reference the original: ISO 9001:2008.)
Example (no UK adoption/keep original):
ASME/ANSI B1.2-1983 – Gages and Gaging for Unified Inch Screw Threads
Do not translate the title. Optional gloss: (on gauging unified inch screw threads).
