TransTools

TransTools is an excellent suite of dozens of small utilities designed to help translators work across multiple programs. The tools plug into applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, AutoCAD, and others. They help clean up document formatting, run QA checks, and automate many everyday translator tasks.

There are too many tools to list here—check the catalogue and see which ones fit your workflow. Their usefulness depends on how you work; personally I use only a fraction of them, yet they still save me a lot of time and hassle.

The basic edition is free (no adware, no tricks) and includes most features. The paid edition costs €20 and adds a handful of extras. Among them is a powerful advanced spell-checker that saves me significant time. If even one of the added tools is useful to you, the price is easily justified—and it supports ongoing development.
