Drawings are one of the most important types of documents in construction, even more so than in other branches of engineering. Due to the complexity of the subject and the use of abbreviated language, these documents can be very challenging for people without knowledge of civil engineering. Let us consider the following diagram of the foundation for a bus stop.

Which translator would be able, without much effort, to translate sentences such as PVC SLIP CAP TO SUIT DOWEL BAR or 4-M16 5.8 GRADE GALVANISED CARBON STEEL CHEMSET ANCHORS PENETRATING 1500mm INTO THE SLAB AND GLUED USING CHEMSET INJECTION 800 SERIES? If this happens in a simple bus stop foundation, what would happen with more complex projects? Is it worth assigning this translation to a translator without civil engineering knowledge?
